The idea for this app was to develop an app that helps users manage their medication. The app could provide reminders for dosages, track medication intake, and facilitate prescription refills. By creating a user-friendly and reliable solution, we can ensure that users take their medications correctly and on time. This app was a final project for a class that I did together with 3 others. I worked most with the design and the colors.
For the research we needed to empathize with medication users. What challenges do they face? What difficulties do they encounter? What kind of support do they need? What do they feel is lacking in other apps? Then we started to decide the apps age group.
After careful consideration, we've decided not to focus on a specific age group but rather target the app towards all medication users. Initially, we considered focusing on users over 65 and younger individuals with chronic conditions. However, after discussions, we concluded that the app should be relevant to everyone, regardless of age, including those with everyday medication needs. We made a couple of interviews to learn more about the users needs.
After conducting several interviews with our target audience, which consists of older adults with the need to manage their medication, we have gathered insights that have led to the creation of a detailed persona. This persona helps us understand users' needs and challenges on a deeper level and guides the development of an app that meets their requirements.
The first design is the home screen, where users can add new prescriptions, view their current ones, monitor system checks, check for potential side effects, and track the medications that need to be taken today.
In the second design, accessed by selecting "Add New Prescription," users can scan prescriptions with their phone's camera, manually enter them, or use the prescription overview. They can also set reminders and choose the days for medication intake.
The third design, accessible through the "Medicine Cabinet" option, allows users to view their medications. For example, Medicine C is detailed in the fourth design. Here, users can access information about the medication, including dosage, ingredients, side effects, renewals, and dosage adjustments. Additionally, the user’s profile is visible within the Medicine Cabinet, shown in the fifth design.
The sixth design features the system control, where users can monitor their health status over a specified period. It also includes notes and scheduled appointments.
